Children's Chapel & Preschool Sunday School

We offer Pre-school Sunday School and Pre-school Chapel for children ages two through four. For children ages K-5, Children's Chapel is available during hte 9:00a church service. Of course, children are always welcome to stay with their parents during Big Church.

Sunday, 9:00a: Pre-school Sunday School
For children ages two (prior to September 1) through four years and meeting on the first floor of the Education Building (there is an entrance through the East Parish Hall), our Preschool programming provides a safe, welcoming atmosphere based on the belief that whether big or small, all are important members of God’s family. A Bible lesson is taught during Preschool Chapel and the corresponding classroom activities engage all learning styles. Three and four-year-olds enter “big church” for Communion, before returning to their classes for a snack.

Pre-school Chapel
This worship, during Preschool Sunday School, speaks to students with a developmentally appropriate chapel service. As part of the liturgy, children hear the morning’s Bible lesson, with Godly Play, song, game, and movement elements incorporated.

Beginning together: A new pattern for family Sunday Worship

The Family & Children’s Ministry Renewal Council and assorted Task Forces have been hard at work examining and re-imagining the ways in which we nurture the faith of our children.  The first fruits of those efforts will take shape with the creation of a new pattern of worship for families with children (K-5).

Families will begin worship together in the Church.  Children will remain in church with their parents up until the sequence hymn (the song just prior to the gospel reading).  The children will then come forward for the reading of the gospel and gather at the chancel steps as the Gospel is read.  The children will then process behind the cross to the parish hall for Children’s Chapel. During Children’s Chapel there will be an age appropriate activity related to the Sunday readings, music and a child friendly continuation of the liturgy.  The children will then rejoin their parents at the words of invitation in time to take communion with their families.

Children’s chapel is offered as an alternative for those in grades K-5, but children are always welcome to stay in “big church” with their parents. Do what is best for your family and your child.
